The Lay of Faith
Faith, with two fair witnesses doth stand,
Knowledge and Experience, hand in hand.
In wisdom's hall, where scholars dwell,
There's lore of spirit, lore of earthly realm.
With knowledge bright, and experience true,
Our faith does bloom, like roses do.
Though God's vastness we may not understand,
Nor hold His touch as constant friend.
Revelation, like a guiding star,
Tells us true what our minds could mar.
When reason’s mist does cloud our sight,
And life’s silence falls like night.
These are but paths our spirit must tread,
These are but paths our spirit must tread,
In the journey from the cradle to the bed.
For God holds mystery in His grasp,
And moments of silence, in His clasp.
When understanding fails, and doubts arise,
When understanding fails, and doubts arise,
Our faith still soars like the falcon flies.
We trust in His oaths, His words, His will,
Our belief in Him, our hearts do fill.
Christ Jesus, of the faith the cornerstone,
Christ Jesus, of the faith the cornerstone,
Reason’s fullness, our experience made known.
With reason and experience, we seek,
Yet on faith alone, our souls do speak.
